It’s interesting that we are kicking off November on this site with “Project Human” – the popular album from British R&B singer and songwriter Benny Bizzie – as, out of all the works we shall be reviewing over the next few weeks, this is by far the most intriguing project by quite some distance.
The fabulous talent of the rising star has been remarkable. with the releases of his previous records such as Free, Window Frame, Not Sorry, Forever and not forgetting his ground breaking EP Chrysalis, Benny Bizzie has been making quality music for some time now and with the latest offering from his 11 track album Project we get to find out more behind the making of such a fantastic album. Speaking more about the album Benny says : " "This album is my way of processing everything happening around us—the conflicts, the rise of AI, mental health struggles, and the changes we're all navigating. I'm asking questions and reflecting on how we're adapting as humans in this complex world. With this album, I hope to inspire others to find their own strength and voice, just as I have through this process."

1. Congratulations on the release of your album Benny, could you tell us how it came about ?
BENNY: Thank you! 'Project Human' was something that emerged over time, almost like a conversation I needed to have with myself—and ultimately with listeners. The album represents different layers of my own journey, both as an individual and as an artist, navigating life, growth, and complex emotions. I wanted to capture the raw, messy beauty of being human, and each song reflects a different aspect of that. From the earliest ideas, I felt like this project had to be honest, without any filters. I poured everything into it, hoping that anyone who listens might find a piece of their own story within it too.
2. You've described your album as a very personal and thought provoking project, how does this album differ from your previous projects?
BENNY: This album definitely goes deeper than anything I’ve done before. While my past projects focused more on love, empowerment, or self-discovery, Project Human digs into the core of who we are, embracing both the light and the shadow. It’s a reflective journey that acknowledges our struggles, resilience, and the quiet strength we carry. I think I allowed myself to be more vulnerable, to express raw emotions that I might have held back in the past. Musically, it’s also more eclectic, bringing in sounds and influences from the African roots, London’s grime and R&B elements, and blending them in a way that feels organic. I see it as a more complete reflection of me, not just as an artist, but as a person who’s been through a lot and learned from it.
3. You feature notable songs such as Big Karma, Free, Monsters and more, what song was your favourite to work on and why ?
BENNY: Monsters holds a special place for me. It was one of those songs that seemed to write itself, diving into the things we all face but rarely talk about like the inner struggles, self-doubt, and the "monsters" that sometimes hold us back. It allowed me to confront some of my own fears in a way that felt liberating. Working on that track was both intense and healing. Big Karma was also a lot of fun because it brought this big energy and sense of accountability, reminding us that what we put into the world comes back to us. Each song had its unique experience, but those two really stand out for me. I feel like I am being braver with my songwriting also and there's more of that to come.
4. You've done so well with your music over the years. What do you hope listeners gain from listening to Project Human ?
BENNY: I hope listeners come away feeling seen and understood, like this project is holding up a mirror to their own lives. Whether it’s finding strength in tough times, reflecting on their journey, or reconnecting with their human nature, my hope is that 'Project Human' can offer comfort, inspiration, and a sense of connection. We’re all on this journey of figuring out who we are, and sometimes the right song at the right moment can remind us we’re not alone.
5. How would you describe your growth as an artist over the years ?
BENNY: I’ve become more open to exploring the full spectrum of emotions and not shying away from the harder topics. I think I’ve learned to trust myself more and embrace my own voice, both literally and figuratively. I’m less concerned with fitting into a mold or genre and more focused on telling stories that resonate deeply. I’ve grown into someone who values authenticity above all else, and that’s been a journey of its own. Each project feels like a step closer to who I really am, and I hope my audience can feel that too.
6. Finally, what's next for you, can we expect some music videos or a live show sometime ?
BENNY: Definitely! I’m planning to release more visual content to bring these songs to life, so keep an eye out for that. 'Project Human' is only the beginning of this journey. I want to take listeners even deeper, and that’s going to mean more performances, more storytelling, and more creative ways to bring the project to life.
