Welcome Driill, thank you for joining us, we love your single Waistline. Could you tell us about how it first came about?
DRIILL: Thank you for having me! I'm excited to share the story behind 'Waistline.' It all began with the infectious beat produced by the talented Quality – shout out to him for creating the perfect foundation. As soon as I heard the beat, the lyrics and vibe started flowing. The first phrase that came to mind was 'carry your matter for head like my ogor,' and from there, the song organically took shape. I'm thrilled with how 'Waistline' turned out, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to share it with the world."
2. What do you hope listeners take from the song, are there expectations from this release?
DRIILL: With 'Waistline,' I hope listeners can simply let loose and enjoy the vibe. The song is about that undeniable attraction we've all experienced at some point. I want this track to be a casual reminder of that special someone who catches your eye. As for expectations, I'm excited to see how the song resonates with my audience. I'm looking forward to hearing their interpretations and connecting with them on a deeper level through the music."
3. You've come a long way from your early days, tell us who were some of the artists you grew up watching, did any of them inspire your current sound?
DRIILL: Growing up, I was heavily influenced by Vector, an artist I've always admired for his unique approach to music. His creativity and passion resonated with me on a deeper level. As I explored the music scene, I discovered Rema, who continues to inspire me with his innovative style and versatility. His ability to push boundaries and experiment with different sounds has been a significant influence on my artistic journey.
When it comes to my sound, I'd say it's an organic reflection of my personality and emotions. I draw inspiration from various artists and genres, but ultimately, my creative process is about expressing myself freely. I let the music flow naturally, without constraints, allowing me to tap into my truest emotions and thoughts. It's this unbridled expression that shapes my unique sound and style."
4. Now with your current project, would you say your style has evolved and grown over time?
DRIILL: Absolutely, I'd say my style has undergone a significant transformation over time. As an artist, I'm constantly seeking ways to innovate and push the boundaries of my creativity. With each new project, I challenge myself to explore fresh perspectives, experiment with different sounds, and refine my craft.
This growth is not only essential for my personal artistic development but also for the culture as a whole. I believe that evolution and progress are key to keeping the music scene vibrant and exciting. With my current project, I'm excited to share this newfound growth and maturity with my audience, and I'm confident that they'll appreciate the elevated sound and style."
5. If you could work with any artist/producer on an album who would you work with and why?
DRIILL: I've always wondered what a project with Rema, Vector, and Victony would sound like. I just love how true they are to themselves and their sound; sometimes you can't always predict what to expect next. I even wrote a song sometime this year with Victony in mind, 'Swing.' It's not out yet, but it's really a song to watch out for. If I get to collaborate with him before we drop it, it was originally written for him, so I may not drop it anymore – I might just have to give it to the owner!"
6. Lastly, you've had a brilliant year so far with your work steadily rising in popularity – what can your fans watch out for from you.Could we expect a live show, music videos, a short film, or something like that coming soon?
DRIILL : As we wrap up the year, I'm excited to share that we're already working on new music. My team and I are cooking up another EP, slated for release in 2025. While we have a few surprises up our sleeves, a live show is definitely a possibility – we'll keep our fans posted on that front. One thing is certain, though: 2025 is going to be a big year for me and my team. We're gearing up for a string of releases and projects that will showcase my growth as an artist. Stay tuned – it's going to be a wild ride!"
