  1. Welcome back Dylan and congratulations on the release of your brand new single Calling Up. How did the single first come about ?

DYLAN: This single came about during a time I was writing a bunch of new songs this year, I wanted to release something that was more dark R&B, that’s the sound I’ve always loved.

  1. This new track is very different from your usual style, It’s sensual, sexy, stylish and it sure turns up the temperature for listeners. What was the writing process like ?  DId you draw inspiration from other sexy songs ? lol

DYLAN: I was listening to a lot of Janet Jackson earlier this year, specifically “Would You Mind”. I was actually speechless when I first heard the song but I kind of took inspiration from it, I found it quite inspiring that a woman had written and sung a song that was so outlandish. I didn’t take it as far as she did but I just wanted to create a song that was a little out of my comfort zone, kind of about inviting someone into your physical world. I put a synth into Logic and a simple 808 beat and just started writing over it.

3) You’ve come a long way from your early days , from your previous songs to your EP Libertine to now Calling Up, What can you say about your growth as an artist ?

DYLAN: I can definitely say I’ve grown a lot over the years, I have a better idea of my vision now and what I want to sound like and what I want everything to look like. Also, when you spend more time in the music industry you start to understand how everything works and how to maximise your success as much as you can. But also, I think lyrically I’ve grown, I don’t always want to talk about love and heartbreak, I think as I get older I’ll get over those things and write about different things. Calling Up isn’t a love song really, it’s more about wanting someone to pass the time with without any strings attached.

4) Now with your current single, it’s surely a real treat for your fans. can we expect a music video for it coming soon or an official remix loading?

DYLAN : I have a bunch of content like little music videos that will be released around the time of the song coming out. I’m trying something different this time!

5)  What were your favourite memories from  creating this single, did you enjoy working in the studio?

DYLAN: I worked on this song with a producer called Sincerely Mace and he helped to bring the vision of this song to life. We had a couple of studio sessions and I’m so particular about all the sounds so I love to be there and pick out everything that needs to be included and what needs to be taken out. My vision is always super important when creating in the studio.

6)  Lastly, you’ve had a brilliant year so far with your amazing tracks out there, what’s next for you, are you working on anything , have you got any live shows lined up ?

DYLAN: I hope to release another song before the year ends after Calling Up and do a show too, a lot of people have been asking for it!
